Teach Children to Save

Florida Gulf Bank employees visited three classes at two area schools on June 10 as part of the national “Teach Children to Save” campaign. Students at Orangewood Elementary and Allen Park Elementary learned about the importance of balancing spending and savings and bank.
Along with the lessons the bankers taught, students were given some real life scenarios and were asked to plan the best way to save money on the items they want or regularly purchase. From hamburgers to clothes to video games, students came up with ways to get the items they wanted most and save money at the same time.
This is the first year that Florida Gulf Bank employees have volunteered in the national program that raises awareness about the important role that banks and bankers play in helping young people develop life-long savings habits. In its 14 years, the campaign has reached over 3.4 million youth with the help of 80,000 bank volunteers.
