William (Bill) P. Valenti
President & CEO

Bill Valenti is the founder of Florida Gulf Bank and has served as President and Chief Executive Officer since the bank’s inception in 2001. Born in Staten Island, NY, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Francis College and served as 1st Lt. in the U.S. Army Infantry before beginning his career in banking. Bill also obtained a Masters in Business Administration in Finance from Long Island University. He moved to Florida with his family in 1977.

Extremely active in the Southwest Florida community, Bill is currently serving the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce (Past President, current Board Member), United Way of Lee County (Board of Directors), Susan G. Komen for the Cure (2010 Race Co-Chair), Fort Myers Rotary (Past President/Treasurer), Leadership Florida, Habitat for Humanity (Board of Directors, Executive Committee) and Hodges University (Past Chairman of Lee County President’s Council and current Board Member).

One of the bank’s founding principals, John manages all areas of lending. After graduating from the University of Florida and LSU’s Graduate School of Banking, he began his career as a personal lending associate quickly becoming an expert in commercial lending structures and analysis. Prior to joining Florida Gulf Bank, John managed all commercial banking activities for Southwest Florida for another area bank. A Southwest Florida resident since early childhood, John enjoys tennis, golf and snow skiing during his off hours. He is also an active member of the community and has served as past president of the Rotary Club of Fort Myers. John is currently a member of the Real Estate Investment Society.

A founding principal of the bank, John oversees all finance and accounting functions. He is also responsible for IT, deposit operations, facilities and courier services.  John graduated with a B.S. in accounting from the Pennsylvania State University in 1982 and began his professional career with the international accounting firm Ernst & Whinney.  In 1985, John moved to Daytona Beach, Florida for a job with a small community bank and prior to Florida Gulf Bank worked as Chief Financial Officer at two other financial institutions.  John has more than 25 years of bank experience and now considers himself a Floridian having lived in the sunshine state for an equal amount of time.  When he is not crunching numbers, John plays hockey and golf, runs and enjoys spending time with his family at the beach.

Dennis Kucera
Senior Vice President/Credit Administration

Dennis is one of Florida Gulf Bank’s founding principals. He began his career as a management trainee for the Exchange Bank of Polk County, FL. A Florida native and graduate of the University of Florida, Dennis has broad based banking experience with a specialty in commercial lending. Prior to joining Florida Gulf Bank, he served as a commercial lender and relationship manager for another Lee County bank. Dennis’ “after hours” activities include boating, golfing and all things “Gator.”
